Show Notes

Stephen Loyd, MD, shares his personal and professional journey with addiction and addiction medicine. In his own words, "It's a day-to-day battle against the stigma of addictive disease." IFM's Dan Lukaczer, ND, interviews Dr. Loyd on topics ranging from the social determinants of addiction to health policy. Furthermore, they delve into why doctors and airline pilots have such high recovery rates from addiction. What's the role of early life trauma in addictive behaviors? What about underlying mental health conditions that contribute to addictive behavior? As a former opioid addict, Dr. Loyd has spent years of his life working on public health policies to reduce addiction and improve treatment. Dr. Loyd is one of the speakers at IFM's 2019 Annual International Conference.
